Data is raw facts and figures
Data on its own has no meaning

There are two types of data, Boolean and Logical:
Boolean is a single function data, either true or false, like a light is either on or off.
Alphanumeric data is a 'string' which uses letters and numbers. E.g. @#;[].
Real data is a number which has one decimal place.
Integer data is sets of numbers that are whole numbers, no decimals.
Date is used to find what the data is as it changes depending on the continent.
Other data types include currency and images/sounds/videos

DATA + Meaning = Information
For example : 130515 = data
13/05/15 = a date
13/05/15 Date of the next ICT exam = Meaning
Criminal fields for example data:
Height = Real
Est Age = Integer
Hair Colour = Alphanumeric
Eye Colour = Alphanumeric
Gender = Boolean
Information that school stores about us is kept in a table on a database.
Each piece of information they keep about us is stored in a field
Two examples of fields used by school to store our information are Gender and Age.
